The starting point of this itinerary is in Via Pietrafraccia , a side street of Via Aurelia di Levante, in front of the minigolf entrance.
Take Via Sant'Ambrogio , a mule track that you meet immediately on your right. The path consists of a steep concrete staircase that climbs between high walls, interrupted by some more flat and open stretches from which you can admire beautiful views of Rapallo.
When you reach the crossroads with Via Linare, continue left along the creuza that climbs between strips and houses and comes out on a small open space, where on the left, you find the staircase that leads to the church of Sant'Ambrogio . Here a wide panoramic view that extends from Rapallo to Portofino welcomes you. On the square you will also find a tap of drinking water for a possible supply.
Go past the church and continue on Via San Bernardo , the paved road in front of you, leaving it after 50 meters and continue on the mule track on the right of the white chapel (Via Della Liggia). You are immediately at a crossroads, continue right, following the signs for Maria Maddalena / Semorile.
The small path passes behind some houses to come out on a concrete road that we have to follow uphill, to the left until the concrete part ends and a well-marked path begins.
Continue straight ahead, ignoring some deviations that you encounter on the right and left, on the well-kept path that offers some panoramic views, before creeping into the woods and arriving at the small chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena, where on the first Sunday of August there is a small party in his honor in which all the inhabitants participate of the area.
Beyond the church, the road begins to descend into the woods and reaches the small and panoramic abandoned village of Sexi (pronounced: Seigi) which is divided into a high part and a low part. From here the path after a slight slope begins to descend quite steeply on large stone steps and after passing a small bridge you find yourself in Semorile, a small fraction of Zoagli, consisting of a core of houses and its church which can be reached by going up to the left.
We have decided to return to Rapallo following the same path of the outward journey, but whoever wants to do the complete tour can go down to Zoagli, and return to Rapallo by public transports (train or bus)
Here you will find our Zoagli-Semorile ring route: to go down to Zoagli, you can choose between the path that we used to go up and the one to go down, known as the "Path of the 5 bell towers".
