To explore this trail in Portofino Park, connecting Semaforo Nuovo to Batterie, we took a loop starting from Portofino Vetta.
Enter the park behind the closed Hotel Kulm and follow the main path to Pietre Strette. Pass the rest area at Gaixella and the turnoff for San Rocco di Camogli, then leave the main trail.
Turn right onto a flat path (the uphill path leads to Semaforo Vecchio). This path alternates between shaded sections and panoramic views. Soon, it begins to climb towards Rifugio Paradiso.
Continue on the main trail to reach Toca, where you can rest on shaded wooden benches.
From here, follow the red triangle marker (
) for 5 minutes to reach the large square at Semaforo Nuovo. Here, you'll find tables with benches and an emergency helicopter landing pad.
The area in front of the building offers a 180° view of the Gulf and Ligurian coast. The well-marked trail here descends to Batterie and further to Punta Chiappa if desired.
This well-maintained path winds through vegetation with stunning views, reaching the Batterie Visitor Center in about 20 minutes. It connects to the San Rocco di Camogli-San Fruttuoso trail, which also leads down to Punta Chiappa.
Head right towards San Rocco di Camogli. After the final coastal steps, enter the bush with some ups and downs, followed by a gentle slope to Fornelli. The path becomes easier as you approach the first houses.
Pass the small cluster of houses in Mortola. Soon, the trail leads to the square in San Rocco di Camogli, where you'll find a drinking water tap, a bar, and two small shops.
To return to Portofino Vetta, climb the concrete steps before the church, marked with an empty circle. This path ascends through Galletti, passing olive groves and cultivated terraces before entering the woods. In about 30 minutes, you'll reach Gaixella. From there, continue left on the main trail to return to your starting point.
