This short, easy loop in the Valle Sturla leads you to a forest with the evocative ruins of the church of San Martino di Licciorno.

Begin at Zolezzi, accessible from Carasco by following SP 586 to the start of Borzonasca. Follow signs to the right for about 8 kilometers.

Park near the first houses and continue on the carriage road, passing under the church. Then, follow a dirt road to the last houses in Colletta.

A Parco dell’ Aveto signpost directs you into the woods. Follow the trail marker 2 linee verticali along a shaded, level path.

At a fork, take the uphill path. In about 10 minutes, you'll reach the forest where the bell tower of San Martino di Licciorno emerges among the trees, followed by the ancient church ruins.

Continue on the same marked path through the forest. The trail is clear, with alternating ascents and flat sections. Cross the stream twice on small bridges.

Cross the carriage road and find the trail again. It climbs through cultivated terraces and emerges below the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Vallepiana.

From this small village, follow the SP 49 to the left for 1 kilometer to reach Zanoni.
Pass the last houses and descend left on a secondary paved road for a couple of curves. Leave it when a wide dirt road branches off to the right.
(In winter or after heavy rain, continue to Prato Sopralacroce and take the trail marked with 3 pallini to avoid fording the stream).

Descend to the stream, ford it twice, then continue to meet the trail from Prato Sopralacroce, marked with 3 pallini.

Follow the trail marker 3 pallini along the forest road. After a short climb, turn left to ascend and rejoin the outbound trail marked with 2 linee verticali.
Turn right here and follow the original path back to the junction leading to Villa Zolezzi. Take a short detour by continuing straight through a small chestnut grove.

Near the village, ascend left through fields to reach Zolezzi from below, with the option to explore this peaceful hamlet.
