An easy route to reach Portofino starting from Nozarego, a hillside hamlet of Santa Margherita Ligure, continuing along the panoramic trails of the Portofino Promontory.

Once in Nozarego, reachable by car (parking is available along the road), by bus or on foot from Santa Margherita Ligure, take the uphill path near the parish church, by the bus stop. At first surrounded by Mediterranean shrubs, the trail continues through cultivated terraces and passes beside elegant villas with sea views before joining another small path coming from Nozarego.

A more panoramic and almost level section follows, offering beautiful views over Punta Pedale, the Abbey of Cervara and the entire Gulf of Tigullio, leading to the locality of Gave, where the small Cappelletta delle Gave stands. At this crossroads (to the left the trail descends to Paraggi, while to the right a woodland path leads to Crocetta), below the chapel, there is a drinking water fountain.

Continuing along the cobbled trail marked with fie trail marker, climbing gently through shaded sections, the route passes cultivated fields, rural houses and the tiny Chapel of Sant'Anna, from which there is a lovely view, before reaching the locality known as Mulini. Here there is a resting area equipped with tables, benches and drinking water, as well as the Gassetta Mill, a refreshment point and eco-museum.

Beyond the beautifully restored mill, a very short but steep descent leads to the small road (accessible only to residents) which continues almost flat beneath chestnut trees until joining the trail coming from Portofino Vetta and heading towards the sea, in the locality of Olmi, named after the old inn that stood here until the 1980s.

Follow the main trail marked with red square descending to the left beside elegant villas with gardens, within a truly unique landscape: on one side the many shades of green characterizing Mount Portofino, and on the other the deep blue of the sea.
At the junction near Cappelletta della Costa, where there is a table with benches, follow two red circles to continue straight ahead before descending quickly towards the locality of Cappelletta; from the small chapel facing a house, turn left to begin the descent towards Portofino, with charming glimpses of the village along the way.

A steep staircase descending through terraced slopes finally reaches Via del Fondaco, which leads to the parking area and bus stop. From here it is possible to enter the heart of Portofino village and immerse yourself in its famous atmosphere.
