A simple but rewarding loop in the Portofino Park, touching some scenic spots of remarkable beauty.

San Rocco di Camogli can be reached by private vehicles (pay attention to the ZTL area rules), by bus, or walking from Ruta or from Camogli.

The itinerary begins in the square in front of the church, a window on the Golfo Paradiso from where you can admire Camogli and the entire coastline up to Genoa. Here there is a drinking water tap and the Maccarini bakery, famous for its “galletta del marinaio,” but also worth trying are focaccias and savory pies.

Passing the church, continue along the seafront trail marked by Two solid circles which runs mostly flat; ignoring the path on the right that descends to Punta Chiappa, continue straight past some houses before reaching, with a short climb, the quaint and picturesque Mortola hamlet.

After passing the cluster of houses, the trail descends slightly and then continues mostly flat through a beautiful forest until reaching the junction Fornelli, where you leave the main trail to climb left, following the trail marker Empty triangles.

The trail now climbs through the forest with an initial series of switchbacks, then continues on a more open stretch offering some panoramic views before re-entering the forest and tackling a final steep section leading to Toca, a crossroads where a table with benches has been placed.

Continue to the right along the narrow path, marked by Solid triangle, which in 10 minutes leads to Semaforo Nuovo, one of the most scenic spots in Portofino Park. The area offers several places to relax, with the possibility of using tables and benches, and to enjoy the incredibly wide view of the Gulf which, on the clearest days, allows you to glimpse Corsica and Gorgona.

In front of the most photographed bench of the Portofino Park begins the trail, marked by 3 circles which in about twenty minutes descends to the locality of Batterie; it is a clear trail which, after the initial section in the bush, continues with a more open view through low Mediterranean scrub offering suggestive views, especially in the hours before sunset, of Monte Campana and the wide coast beyond Genoa.

Once in Batterie, where the World War II military posts are visible, continue to the right to follow the mid-slope trail which, before entering the forest, with a few conglomerate steps reaches another very scenic point, which the soldiers had chosen to create a small post called the "Sentinella".

The trail then descends into the forest, continues flat, and reaches the junction encountered earlier, thus closing the loop.

Following the same path back, you return to San Rocco di Camogli.
