An alternative route to reach San Fruttuoso di Camogli from Camogli, crossing the trails of the Portofino Promontory.

The itinerary begins near the Carabinieri station, in Viale dei Cipressi, continuing inland along Via San Rocco, the road that runs beside the stream on the right.
At the end of the road, a staircase of about 800 steps climbs between terraces and high walls surrounding private properties.

In about 20 minutes you reach the houses of San Rocco di Camogli, where the Maccarini bakery is located, famous for producing the traditional “Galletta del marinaio”.
A short staircase leads to the churchyard of the Church of San Rocco (219 m), a beautiful panoramic viewpoint over the Golfo Paradiso.
Here there is a drinking water tap and a bar just a few meters away along the road.
Our route continues along the trail climbing to the right of the church, marked with cerchio vuoto, towards Galletti, a small group of colorful houses overlooking the sea.
At the end of the staircase, continue along the mule track passing a few rural houses surrounded by countryside and the Stations of the Cross that characterize the route up to a small shrine in the woods.

Crossing a shaded and humid forest, you reach the locality of Gaixella (412 m), along the Portofino Vetta - Portofino Mare route:
Here there is a table and a drinking water tap.

Continue right along the wide gravel trail, ignoring the various junctions, until reaching Pietre Strette, an important crossroads of Monte di Portofino and a rest area equipped with tables and drinking water.

After passing this charming corner of the Park, characterized by impressive conglomerate rocks, remain on the main path until the first junction, where you turn right following the signs for Base O and the trail marker triangolo rosso.

The trail follows the ridge of the mountain and offers many panoramic viewpoints, continuing almost flat until the locality of Felciara, a clearing among the ferns equipped for resting.
Shortly afterwards you reach Ghidelli, where a connecting trail branches off towards Portofino Mare, and Costa dei Ghidelli, where another short connection leads to the trail descending to San Fruttuoso from Pietre Strette.

The route now descends towards Base O, where wooden tables and benches have been placed together with a small shelter.
Passing the impressive rocky outcrop, a very short equipped section with chains leads to an extraordinary natural terrace overlooking the sea, offering breathtaking panoramic views.

Back on the main trail, continue left towards San Fruttuoso following the marker segnavia Base zero - San Fruttuoso. The descent develops mainly through the forest, with some steep and uneven sections as you approach the village, requiring attention when the ground is wet.
The village gradually appears through the vegetation, revealing increasingly scenic views.

Upon reaching the helicopter landing platform and heliport, a staircase descends among the fishermen’s houses, some of which have now been converted into holiday homes and hotels, leading to the small beach and then, passing beneath Torre Doria, to the Abbey and the heart of San Fruttuoso di Camogli.

The village offers several restaurants and the possibility of returning by ferry.
