This trail leads you up the heights of Recco, ending at the scenic Church of Sant’Apollinare.
Begin on Via Cavour
. To the right, by the traffic light, a staircase takes you to the hamlet of Megli in about 20 minutes. At the Church of Nostra Signora delle Grazie, enjoy a stunning view.
There's a drinking water tap here.
Pass the church on the left and continue up the staircase, ignoring the first right turn. At the second fork, take the left onto Via alla Pineta. The unmarked path crosses the countryside and continues left at the fork to meet Via della Giudea.
Continue straight, now following the FIE trail marker
. After a flat section, descend and then climb again, navigating a series of ups and downs. Pass an abandoned rustic house before reaching Pineta Bassa.
A signpost shows various directions. Follow the climb marked by
, which ascends through the woods to Pineta Polanesi. Descend and, after a short rocky stretch, reach the flat, partly concrete path that ends behind the Church of Sant’Apollinare in Sori.
The views along this section and the church's Romanesque-era setting make this route particularly striking.
For the return, take Via Belvedere briefly, then descend right to join the Sentiero Liguria
. This trail, initially concrete, skirts houses and terraces, seemingly diving into the sea.
Reach Strada della Baggiara, a more rural path that passes the Saracen tower and soon arrives at Polanesi in Campetto. From here, descend along the street to the right to reach the Church of San Martino.
Pass the church and continue on the flat path towards Recco until you find a staircase descending to Mulinetti on Via Aurelia.
Continue east, cross the bridge, descend right, and take the underpass leading to Via Garibaldi. This pleasant secondary road, overlooking the sea, takes about 10 minutes to lead you back to Recco.
