The trail begins on Via S. Bartolomeo (20mt. above sea level), the small street at the end of the parking lot where the police station, along the first part, the Gentile torrent.

The trail continues with a climb, consisting mainly of stairs (about 900), which, passing through olive groves and tall walls that hidebeautiful villas, emerges in the churchyard of the Church of San Rocco (220mt. above sea level).

We leave San Rocco to take a route that is certainly among the most suggestive of the whole promontory, but in some places it is quite challenging. It is therefore advisable to wear shoes suitable for irregular routes and bring a good dose of water with you (there are no fountains or faucets during the journey).

The route begins with the road which, starting from the church of San Rocco, continues along the sea. After a few minutes, after passing the staircase that descends to Punta Chiappa, you will pass through Mortola , a small group of very characteristic houses.

Moving away from the houses, the path enters the woods and arrives, after about 20 minutes, in Fornelli , from which you can go up to the left towards Toca and Pietre Strette.

Going straight on, after a stretch on a false level, there are some ups and downs on irregular but easily passable rock steps which, leaving the bush, overlook Punta Chiappa and Camogli.

After about 40 minutes from the start you arrive at Batterie (246mt. s.l.m.), a magnificent viewpoint over the gulf, where you can see the remains of the bunkers dating back to the Second World War.

Once you reach Passo del Bacio the path becomes a little more challenging due to some passages on the rock overhanging the sea. The use of chains facilitates the passage, especially in a short stretch where the rock has few points of support for the foot.

These difficulties are rewarded by a breathtaking view of Cala dell'Oro and Punta Torretta and by the intensity of the blue of the sea below us.

The path continues narrow and a bit bumpy with some ups and downs on rock steps until it crosses a dry stream (the presence of some chains denotes the presence of water at certain times of the year).

Here, paying attention to the signs, continue on the path that begins to climb (the path is not clearly defined and many people take the wrong path). The climb, very steep and tiring, begins with a very sunny first stretch to go through the woods and reach, in about 40 minutes, the summit near Punta Torretta .

The last part of the route is all downhill, it develops in the middle of ancient trees and ends at the boat dock after about 25 minutes, right in front of the spectacular Abbey of San Fruttuoso (5mt. slm).

After a well-deserved rest, a visit to the village and, why not, in the summer season, a refreshing bath in the crystalline waters of San Fruttuoso Capodimonte, we leave for Pietre Strette.

The path starts behind the Abbey and follows the direction for Torra Andrea Doria which can be reached via a steep, but short, staircase.

From here, a small path climbs up, immediately very steep, entering a shady valley and following a stream. The hairpin bends continue in the middle of the terraces, some of which are cultivated and olive trees during a more sunny stretch, passing in front of an agririfugio in Molini .

After passing the locality Casella , where there is a drinking water tap, the path enters the wood again and after about 20 minutes it reaches the imposing rocky boulders, which distinguish the locality Pietre Strette , hub of Monte di Portofino as well as a rest stop equipped with tables, benches and drinking water.

Taking the direction for Portofino Vetta after about 15 minutes of easy walking, in Gaixella take the detour to the left for San Rocco di Camogli.

The trail now descends in the first stretch into the bush and then crosses cultivated land and dry stone walls, meeting some isolated houses to then arrive at the small village of Galletti .

A last section of the staircase is framed by a breathtaking view and descends behind the Church of San Rocco di Camogli .

Taking the outward route again, in 20 minutes you will be back in Camogli.

Alternatively you can take the bus to Ruta, perhaps making sure that there will be a connection to Camogli (to consult time table ).
