A pleasant walk up and down the typical Ligurian creuze, ancient pedestrian paths running between terraced fields and high stone walls, descending from the hills to the sea and offering scenic viewpoints enhanced by flowers and aromatic plants.
In downhill sections, they can become very slippery when wet, so it is recommended to walk them in dry conditions.

The starting point is Ruta di Camogli, in the main square along Via Aurelia, where there is also a bus stop (connections from Camogli, Santa Margherita Ligure and Rapallo). Using public transport is recommended due to the lack of parking, especially for cars.

Near the pedestrian crossing, take the staircase going down and, turning right, enter Via Maggiolo, a pedestrian path winding between high walls, offering glimpses of beautiful villas and postcard views of Camogli and the coastline up to Genoa.

Continue straight, ignoring a first staircase on the left and a second on the right, then take a third staircase descending on the left, crossing Via Figari and continuing to Via Sego.

Keep left to return to the road, follow it to the right and then take Via del Prione on the left, another creuza descending near a parking area in Via Montesecco, where you leave Via del Prione to continue right on Via di Mezzo.

Walk on level ground until reaching the asphalt, where, after a house, you climb Via nella Valle, a narrow mule track rising between terraces, with some stepped sections, until reaching Via Sego again, which you follow to the left.

Continue on level ground past elegant houses, then descend left onto Via Romana, cross it and take the mule track down to Corso Mazzini; follow it to the right for about 100 meters to reach a staircase running alongside the Nautical Institute, leading to Via Bettolo, with a shortcut to Via Rosselli, near the train station parking area.

Following the main street, you reach the station; a staircase leads down to the beautiful seaside promenade of Camogli, lively and picturesque, lined with bars, restaurants and artisan shops.

Walking along the entire seafront, you reach the small harbor where, to the right, you take Via San Fortunato to a bend, then briefly follow Via della Repubblica and climb a steep staircase that leads up between houses to Via Mazzini.

From here, continue along Via del Prione, another steep concrete staircase leading to Via Romana; turning right, you reach a particularly scenic spot, the Monastero di San Prospero, a Benedictine complex built beside the church in a spectacular position with wide open views, also offering hostel accommodation.

Beyond the monastery, stay on Via Romana until its end, where you find the Cappelletta di Sant’Anna, dating back to the early 1600s; then retrace your steps for about 100 meters and climb left onto Via San Giacomo, the creuza leading back up to Via Aurelia.*

After a few meters, cross the road carefully on the right to rejoin Via San Giacomo and follow it for about 200 meters. At a gate, take the staircase on the right entering the woods. Climb along a fence on uneven, rocky ground, then continue eastward on a faint, unmarked path (GPX track recommended).

After about 500 meters, still in the woods, the route becomes more level, running alongside the cardiovascular center, before descending onto a road which you follow left, climbing back up to the complex.

Keeping right, pass the parking area and continue along a dirt road climbing with a couple of bends until you reach a path turning right into the woods. From here, a steep climb leads to a hunting post, marking the end of the most demanding section.

You then join the official trail connecting Recco to Ruta di Camogli, marked with FIE trail marker Three dots, continuing on level ground to the right until reaching Passo Esoli Sud, where it joins the trail descending from the Santuario di Caravaggio.

Descending to the right, you soon leave the woods and continue along a mule track between terraces and houses, ending near the Millenary Church of Ruta. Following the road to the right, in a few minutes you close the loop, returning to Ruta di Camogli, a small hamlet with essential services: pharmacy, bar, restaurant, bakery and minimarket.

* For those who prefer to avoid the wooded section, which lacks clear markings, we recommend following the Aurelia road uphill for about 2 km back to Ruta di Camogli.
