Easy circular itinerary to reach one of the most panoramic spots in Portofino Park, Semaforo Nuovo.
The starting point is Portofino Vetta, reachable in a few minutes by following Via Gaggino, the road that climbs near the Ruta di Camogli tunnel, with easy parking.
After a short uphill stretch, you pass the former Hotel Kulm building and find the entrance to the Park.
A short staircase leads down to the main trail, which you follow to the right, continuing on flat terrain through the woods until reaching a first rest area equipped with a drinking water tap.
Ignoring the path on the right and subsequent deviations, continue straight ahead following the trail marker
, reaching Pietre Strette in about 15 minutes, the heart of Portofino Park where several trails meet.
Here you will find more benches, a table, and a drinking water tap.
Passing between the impressive conglomerate rocks that characterize the area, follow the path on the right that descends towards San Fruttuoso di Camogli, leaving it shortly after to continue right towards Toca, along the trail marked with
After an initial shaded section, the trail leaves the forest and runs along the hillside overlooking the sea for most of the route, offering numerous panoramic views of San Fruttuoso and Cala dell'Oro, in a stunning blend of green and blue tones.
In about 45 minutes you reach Toca, a quiet spot and junction of several trails, equipped with two benches and a wooden table.
Keeping to the left, after a short gentle climb, the trail descends in switchbacks through the woods to reach Semaforo Nuovo in just a few minutes. This wide area hosts two old buildings once used for naval signaling, now abandoned, and several tables with benches ideal for a lunch break. The real highlight is the breathtaking view, stretching across the Golfo del Tigullio, Golfo Paradiso and as far as the Genoa coastline.
For the return, retrace the same path back to Toca, then continue straight along the wide trail that runs flat through the forest, following the marker
, ignoring a path that climbs to the right towards Sequoie.
With a series of gentle ups and downs, you reach Paradiso, where it is worth taking a very short detour to the left to reach a small natural balcony overlooking the sea, offering beautiful views of Camogli and San Rocco di Camogli.
Back on the main path, climb towards the former refuge, continue on flat terrain, and then descend along a series of switchbacks and rocky sections. After about fifteen minutes you reach the Portofino Vetta - Portofino Mare junction; keeping left, simply follow the outward path back to Portofino Vetta.
