This trail takes you from Santa Margherita Ligure to Camogli, winding through the stunning paths of Parco di Portofino.
Start on Via Costasecca, the uphill road just behind the town hall in Piazza Mazzini.
Walk a few meters along the road, then turn right onto the mule track marked by two rhombuses (
). This path climbs steadily, mixing steps with short paved sections and gravel stretches. Ignore any side paths and keep straight.
After passing the last houses, the trail ascends steeply under the shade of holm oaks, chestnuts, and oaks, with some uneven sections.
About an hour in, you'll reach the wide Portofino Vetta - Portofino Mare path. Turn right, and in just over 5 minutes, you'll arrive at Pietre Strette, equipped with benches, wooden tables, and a drinking water tap.
Pass through the rocks here, briefly follow the path towards San Fruttuoso, then quickly switch to the right, following signs for Toca.
After a shaded start, the trail emerges from the woods, hugging the coastline with sweeping views of San Fruttuoso and Cala dell'Oro, blending vibrant greens and blues.
In about 45 minutes, you'll reach Toca, a peaceful spot with two benches, a wooden table, and a junction for other trails.
If you're up for a short detour, head left for 5 minutes to reach Semaforo Nuovo, offering panoramic views of the Tigullio and Paradiso Gulfs. Otherwise, take the path descending through hazelnut trees. Though mostly shaded, some open sections offer stunning views of Punta Chiappa and Camogli.
At Fornelli, the trail intersects with the San Rocco - Batterie - San Fruttuoso path. Keep right, passing well-tended plots as you near the first houses.
Pass through La Mortola and Il Poggio, along a road parallel to the sea, reaching the churchyard of San Rocco di Camogli.
Here, you'll find bars, a grocery store (try the famous "Galletta" of San Rocco), and a couple of restaurants.
In front of the churchyard, a staircase descends through a cluster of colorful houses to Camogli. This staircase, about 900 steps, winds through olive groves, rural homes, high walls, and offers glimpses of Ruta di Camogli, ending in Camogli at Torrente Gentile in about 20 minutes.
Cross the large parking area to reach the seaside promenade of this charming Ligurian village.
