Thanks to the "Amici dei Sentieri" of Rapallo, which recently have cleared the path and have set the trail markers, it is again possible to travel on the itinerary that leads to the Sanctuary of Montallegro, following the Rio Tuia.
Due to some steps directly on the river bed, we recommend to go to the discovery of this pathway in the dry season.
The starting point is at Rapallo in Via Tuia (not Readily identifiable), a small road you meet, on the left, on Via Aurelia, direction Chiavari, before arriving at San Rocco church
Arrived here keep right, a paved road that passes among the houses, after a few meters you will see the first trail marker. Passed the tenement begins a nice flat route that runs along the stream, where you can see an old mill, called the Mill of Witches, and some scattered houses with garden. Passing under the highway bridge the road begins to climb slightly and offers some more shaded passages. Arrived in front of a large gray farmhouse, the path continues to the left directly on the bed of the river that you must cross to find then again the path that climbs and leads into a forest. From here you keep going uphill, following the trail, on the path that alternates freshest steps into the forest to other more open.
Arrived at the ruins of an ancient small village, the path divides: on the left, crossing mainly the woods, after about 15 minutes you exit just below the cableway station; on the right, however, a new route has recently been traced which then links up with Pianalunga, with the path that comes from Chiavari, and continues to the left towards the restaurant / bar "Il Pellegrino" and then to the Sanctuary of Montallegro(from the detour about 30 minutes).
From here we took the direction of Rapallo, instead to reach the Sanctuary, continue to the right for other 500 meters.
